It has been three weeks since the Apple iPhone SE for 2020 was launched, with a low price in the US and premium internals. It had us wondering – how much will it cost in South Africa? iStore, the retail partner for Apple products in the country, has revealed to clients how much it will cost locally.
It enters Apple to a very crowded mid-range market, differentiating itself with offering the iOS experience at a cheaper price – all other comparable devices run Android. If you’ve wanted to dip your toes in the iOS pool and just haven’t had the appetite (or wallet size) for it, now is the opportune time.
The three configurations will have the following prices in South Africa:
- 64GB iPhone SE: R9,999
- 128GB iPhone SE: R12,499
- 256BG iPhone SE: R14,999
The 2020 SE is a parts-bin device, using old parts that are cheap to manufacture with the addition of modern internal specs. It includes Apple’s latest A13 Bionic chip – which was launched with their flagship iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro models last year – but will be paired with the 4.7-inch screen from the iPhone 8.
Well if this what came to mind when apple heard "budget friendly" then its pretty clear that they do not understand what it actually means. For 10k, you get an old phone and new internals. That's bad, especially if you're in South Africa because 10k is way too much for a device that looks like an iPhone 8. Yes the specs are awesome but aesthetics are important too. At least if they used the XR's chassis, then sure that would be fine.
ReplyDeleteIt's a wonderful device but 10k for an old phone with new internals is not good coz majority of south Africans cannot afford a phone that costs 10k
